I wouldn't mind
listening to this for several minutes. It was kind of transporting and definitely relaxing.

Hitting the board!
The singular focus on yer passion is paying off in inspiring music. Each outing shows a more refined effort. Beautiful dissonance on this track!
Thank you for sharing your talent with us here. Yer quickly growing singular attributes. Bravo!

What Mr. Holman said:
"tranquil"... You sure get some lovely tones and textures out of those pipes of yours.

Be well friend!

The
chording you used was awfully intriguing. The most captivating part of the piece for me. Majors into minors into 7ths, etc. Is that something you plan ahead, or do you begin with the bass note, then build upon it as you add the overdub? Genuinely curious.

Plan ahead
I had a couple of ideas in mind when I started this track, such as the rough structure of starting on Gm, hitting Bb, and going back down to Bb. I did indeed lay down the bass note for something like 4 or 5 bars. (Note each bar is something like 6 seconds. The beat is very slow.) And then I started layering. With the limited range of the recorder, the top note was sometimes hard to find: the choices become quickly very limited.

So there is a little bit of planning, and a good amount of serendipity.

Oh, and then after all parts were recorded I knew that some notes were just wrong but they would be too hard to find by ear in all this mess, so I wrote out the score, and then visually started correcting notes in places where there was just too much dissonance. And then recorded it again, which is the version you're now hearing.

You do put things together exceptionally well, Vic. I enjoyed listening to the directions each instrument was taking, and to the piece as a whole. Worthy of repeated listening.

Kind of has a Stairway To Heaven vibe
to it. Mellow.

Interesting listen. To me, the mellowness of the recorders is counterpointed by the dissonance. I didn't really find it relaxing but did find it aurally intriguing and am glad I stopped by. Thanks.

Relaxing
Ok, I know that I called this a "chill piece", but I do believe in tension and release in music. There are some stiff dissonances in this piece, but they all resolve. I guess it's the soft sounds and low tempo that would make it chill, but it's definitely not intended as mindless droning.

Thanks for the comments. Intriguing is good.
