Description
This is a test sample for the song I'm working on for the (re)magination Schubert Challenge:

http://macjams.com/forum/viewtopic.php?forum=6;showtopic=283490

It's been a long time since I last cracked Logic open. I'm having to learn and re-learn lot's of things...so progress is slow!

Yes. When
you get out of practice, it is a bit tenuous. Sounds interesting...steel drums?
Thanks.

Frame drum
Hey Char, the drum is a Tar (frame drum) from the Apple World Music pack, with a little customization.

Unique sounds
From a practical perspective, I can hear this as a backing track in a film of some sort. A bit ominous-sounding, but very inventive.

Thanks Paul
That's what I think I'm aiming at stylistically, a sort of cinematic electronica. I'd like to find a way to make it feel a bit less produced, but that might be tough without real performers.

P.S. I love your cinematic tracks!

Bass is the base
Thanks for saying so! I worked a long time to build that bass instrument. After trying lots of plugins that just didn't have the richness I found Ample Bass (amplesound.net), which is available in a free version. Really nice. I'll probably splurge for the paid version at some point.

This sounds awesome
listening on the big speakers, and I really like the depth and richness. Is that a shamisen at the very end? Sounds cool.

Hi Bud!
Thanks for the feedback on the mix. My speakers are worn out (I'm pretty sure the tweeters are failing) and I'm relying a lot on meters and headphones. It's sounds a bit mid-rangy on my system, but if it sounds good on your end I'll trust your ears!

The plucked instrument is an Oud, I think (also from Logic's World Instuments).

Disquiet
Plenty of interest. Great to hear some unusual instruments. Disquiet is well named. Thanks.

Dark...Cool...
yet very hot... Puts me in mind of King Crimson. (Coming from me that's a huge compliment!) Only wish it was MUCH LONGER!

Be well friend!
