We End Up Being All The Same (42)

Description
Not political - well maybe just a little bit ;) More a musing of life and lifetimes and the meaning thereof. Plus, as an added bonus, the importance of art/music/culture.

"Paint the pictures sing the songs
Mine are yours and yours are mine
Tell the stories right the wrongs
While we’ve got time"

Just me - with some help from Drummer Gavin, and a piano solo loop I borrowed and mangled by adjusting it to my needs.

Cheers,
Neil

Lyrics
We End Up Being All The Same
©2017 Neil Porter

We end up being all the same
Except for what we leave behind
We make all the same mistakes
Blind leading the blind

Half-hearted skyline
Sad tainted sky
Hide and seek lifeline
Wondering why

From brightest day to darkest night
Amazing how things turn around
Right is wrong and wrong is right
All lost not found

Half-hearted skyline
Sad tainted sky
Hide and seek lifeline
Wondering why

SOLO/BRIDGE

Half-hearted skyline
Sad tainted sky
Hide and seek lifeline
Wondering why

Paint the pictures sing the songs
Mine are yours and yours are mine
Tell the stories right the wrongs
While we’ve got time

Half-hearted skyline
Sad tainted sky
Hide and seek lifeline
Wondering why

Half-hearted skyline
Sad tainted sky
Hide and seek lifeline
Wondering why

That being said....
I'm in continued awe of your abilities as a mixer...This has great around-the-inside-of-my-head space....Front-to-back, and left to right....and full spectral balance and lots of punch...

I really like the B3 bits, and you've got a great approach to rhythm guitar that, combined with the delay, really works here....The Rhodes line is pretty neat, too...

I'm envious of your hand with percussion as well...

I like the lyrical theme as well...sort of grim-with-a-sustaining-sense-of-hope thing... I can stand both halves of that equation right about now...

Great ending...

Thanks Ed
I'm hoping that the new piano solo worked for you. The version I sent pre-posting definitely wasn't up to scratch, although this one sends the section further into the scary forest of jazz.
Cheers,
Neil

We End Up Being All The Same
Snappy arrangement with drums and bass working very well together. Impressive work on the solo - it jumps about very nicely! Thoughtful lyrics. All good, Neil!

Cool groove. Alt funk jazz melange. Your vocals really suit this style of song, Neil. Impressive keys interlude. The Tele stabs work well. Gavin is in the groove, too. You have great control over Drummer. A good'un for sure. Thanks.

Since my return
I've been in awe of how you continue to knock it out of the park with each new effort. This one is my fave so far. Love the melody. Love the song structure. Love the percussion and the organ. In short... LOVE IT!!!

Be well friend!

jazz chords
solid production of course. but man, those cool jazzy chords contain a dark secret. the piano solo works even if you mangled it :)

Beautiful production
Man, this sounds great. I love the guitar tone. That piano solo fits really well. I really like the transition to the organ with the latin percussion. Much to like here.

jazz chords!
I used to have a guitar instructor who was a forty some year old guy who lived with his mom and let his nails grow into picks and kept a million cats. He was a creepy dude but he loved those jazz chords and since then I've always wanted to use them but they never sound right in the poppy stuff I write. I play them a lot when I'm just messing around though. Anyway this isn't about me lol I like this, it's kind of spooky, the keys breaks are fantastic.
