Description
A suite of five pieces, around East Texas Landscapes.

1. Hearn Crossing -- about the rail yards in Hearn
2. Fayette Sky -- reflecting on a beautiful sunday afternoon visiting the painted churches of Fayette country
3. Burton Gin - depicting the cotton gin: a big machine (`engine') for picking apart cotton
4. Crockett Mansion -- the derelict Mary Ellen Seminary
5. Seventy-nine Miles - about my yearly drive of almost 200 miles along US 79. The fact that the music largely alternates 7/8 and 9/8 is purely a coincidence.

All the music plus largely irrelevant video: video.

Wow, what a sweet suite.
Lovely playing and music, as usual. The counterpoint is layered to perfection, something that is tricky to do on your own with a live instrument. Get your timing wrong on one layer and the result is a painful listen. None of that here, this is fascinating. Another one I started downloading before I'd finished listening to it.

Wonderful!
so much movement and variation.

I liked the very clever touch of the train whistle in the first section (unless I heard it wrong!)

It was also very well recorded, consistent and an excellent tone.

Cheers

Dick

Nice invention. The music moves around - just as you moved from place to place.

Move
Texas is a place with a surprising amount of history and picturesque places that you never hear about. It tickled my fancy to base a suite on completely non-obvious places. For instance, the painted churches are gorgeous, but I visited 4 or 5 on a sunday afternoon and never ran into another soul. (

Texas travels - I enjoyed the ride, and commentary above. The sonic landscapes flash by. Lovely tone, as always. Thanks, Vic.
