Description
it's been a extremely hot summer, and my recording room upstairs just bakes. so time is limited on recording, so this song was done very quickly. music bed & mix on one morning vocals on another.
once in a while i need to clean out a closet and i have collected past family photo albums going back to the very early 1900's. At times while looking through the photos I would wonder "now what's going on there".

PHOTOGRAPHS

I remember the time in this photograph
a distant memory I hold in my hand
I remember the scene
but i don’t remember the words
could of been twenty years or more
places in time for a second or two
I can see the place
and your lovely face

photographs of memories
in that place in time
so it will reside
in its moment in time

scrapbook full of memories
snapshots from a different day
could of been a story
behind each frame

photographs of memories
in that place in time
so it will reside
in its moment in time

some we see in the light of day
red eyes on faces late at night
now I close the book
trapping away the past

I found a shop that still sells film
someone must want time to stand still
always able to touch
a past moment in time

photographs of memories
in that place in time
so it will reside
in its moment in time

Sweating
for the music. Hardcore! Don't really sound like them, but I got flavors of XTC for some reason. That harmonized lead is fantastic. What did you use?

I know what it is... the arpeggiated chord inversions. XTC used them extensively.
for the solo, usually i will play a harmony to the original. however, on this i copy and pasted the solo on another track and used the pitch shift plug in set with a 100% mix, then blended the 2 tracks... it seemed to work.

A cool song with a 60-s vibe :-)
I dig the vocals and guitarwork
A boxof old photographs inspired me too once to write a song.
And about the temperatures , we have quite a cool summer this year in the netherlands, but I don't mind :-)
enjoyed your song!

plenty of photos, maybe with some interesting stories. quite a mystery sometimes.
each summer in Eastern Washington (the state) there is an increase of 90 degree plus days. this summer it's week after week. but we do have the ideal summers here.

Old photographs have been the inspiration for many fine songs. This is no exception. Trademark Vic vibe. Nice hook in the chorus and the guitars shine, as always. Thanks. Take care.

there has got to be a song behind each photo. i get stuck for lyric ideas these days. so maybe make up stories based on a few photos might be a inspiration.

Ripper song Vic. I think all of the comments above are spot on. There is a 60's vibe, traces of XTC and I thought the solo was pure 80's. Loved it.

One of the tragedies
of the digital age is that photo albums are disappearing.

What will future generations be using in the future I wonder.

Spot on Vic. Lyrics and music.

Cheers

I'm impressed that you put this together quickly, I'm usually impressed with your music anyway. Cool tune and definitely has your touch. Enjoyed.

outside of coming up the music and writing the lyrics, i figure the recording time and mixing at a little over two hours. seems all fell in place, which surprised me as well.

Whoa!
Another fine rocker bro! A hint of good ol' garage band in this one! Really like the lyric concept. Nice arrangement. Great guitar work as always!

Be well friend!

I like the use of the delay/echo...
...and I like the way you've worked the lyrical theme...

The rhythm guitars have really nice chime.

I wish there was a little more 'space' around the vocal, so it stood out from the guitar bed...I know the doubled/tripled/treated vocal thing is part of your sound, but I want to be able to 'get' the lyrics and lyric flow more easily...

How the hell
did I miss this one?!?!?

Wow! Love the photographs concept. used it myself in SCAR TISSUE. But you took it much farther than me. beautiful guitar work throughout. Fab double leads. This is aces bro!

Be well!

Memories
I think I can relate to the thought behind this song.

Great sounding guitar work as always. I really admire how you keep that carpet of dense sounds still sounding transparent. (Little bass stutter somewhere halfway.)
