Recorder Mania!
Awesome goodness! Thank you for sharing this work with us here.
The recording is excellent and the spacial design leaves enough room for the voices to speak comfortably.
The counter melodies in the alto and tenor lines are spellbinding. I had to grab a copy for my playlist.
Can I request a revisit to this ones? I want a breakdown and recapitualion of the material in a distant key, as a device to engender added harmonic interest. I would imagine tender feet will have a difficult time hanging in on this one. A casual listener might miss the repeat of the form, but breaking it down would give the melody a chance to burn in the listeners a bit more. Please one more suggestion, perhaps a bit more generous with the tempo, real players would do this naturally, but the midi guys not at all. You got to write the tempo smears into the data, like you know the real guys would actually play the thing.
Very inspiring piece of stuff Victor!

Yeah, that contrabass recorder is one of the best things I ever bought. Expensive, but totally worth it.

Wonderful listening experience
great playing and recording - excellent writing. Immediately went in for a repeat listen to appreciate the details that flew by me the first time. I miss the track timer. When did it disappear? I could use it to point to specific moments of special appreciation. Trying to describe them would only point out my limited musical vocabulary. There are really neat things happening all over the place.

Timer
The timer seems to work on sporadically. You could refer to the video version of the track: https://vimeo.com/238235977 if you still want to go back to point out features. But thanks already for all the kind words.

Lots of energy!
So much is going on here! Nice unison entrances and endings of phrases - not easy. I was wondering how you were going to end this - and then you did with perfect finality and a bit of a wink.

Fast and furious is right. But also eminently musical and engaging. Your skill with these instruments is so impressive. Enjoyed the blackout. Thanks.

Black MIDI sounds so evil...
But this is delightful.

Great concept and amazing performance.

Such control...
...over so many elements. So many interesting things going, the chromatic underpinnings always giving a new and special twist to the busyness going on above it all. You have such wonderful command of your instruments and play off the counterpoint not only in notes, but in the color of the many instruments you've employed. A marvelous exercise that results in some unique and quite marvelous music! (Kind of a Michala-Petri-on-steroids sort of thing.) Wow!

I never heard of 'Black MIDI'...
...and so of course I thought you were kidding...

But, wanting to get the joke, no matter how difficult, I actually went and looked it up...

The thing about this is, it's simply MUSICAL...the notes may be coming fast and furious, but they're not pointlessly busy or arcane...there is a lovely sense of melody, harmony, and 'parts', and towards the end the parts are twining and cascading around each other...

This is also a recording that still sounds impressive and awesome when being played and replayed on my weenie little MacBook Pro speakers...

The phenomenon is fairly new to me too. I gather it's not exactly mainstream.

Thanks for the compliments, and, eh, I do hope you also listened to this on headphones or good speakers because there is some great stuff going on in the contrabass recorder.
