Jammed Up

Description
When they write the history of these troubled times I have a terrible dread that they won't put enough emphasis on the most common experience we all have shared. Therefore to do my small part in documenting modern life I have written this song.

Lyrics
Well I got off from work and I jumped in my car
And I drove to the freeway knew I wasn't going far
They were jammed up, they were sitting tight, and everywhere I looked those cars were standing still.

Well I gave it the gas and I tried to merge
Man I almost played my funeral dirge
They were jammed up, they were sitting tight and everywhere I looked those cars were standing still.

Now Road Rage can be an awful thing
You say those words you don't really mean
turn on the radio and try to sing
But a man interrupts just to say
There's an 18 wheeler and it's in your way and it was carrying a toxic chemical load

Well I just laid back and tried to relax
When I almost got killed by a caddilac
They were jammed up , they were sitting still and everywhere I looked those cars were standing still.

Well I got home about 8:00 and man I tell you I was oh so hot
But I had a cold dring, my baby whispered in my ear and as we went to bed there wasn't a car in sight

Must have been the lime
Great work again, Tom. Some very funny lines in this
verse, although my personal favorite is, "Man, I almost
played my funeral dirge." Excellent rhyming. Great harp.
Your production is also getting frighteningly good. I can't
find one bad thing to say about his song. The Marine Band
is so good, though, you might consider giving it an extra
solo. (When will we hear just you and your harp?)

Must have been the lime
That was my favorite line also. What a rhyme eh? I just picked up the
harmonica again for the first time in years and years. The only old ones I had
were in the key of C. I now have new ones in other keys but they aren't
broken in well. So this is the first song in the key of G that the C harp is the
correct one to use and that I have had a month or so of a little practice. But to
tell you the truth I never was anything but just adequate on the harmonica. So
maybe after a lot more practice. I emailed you on some other problems I had.

Must have been the lime
Agree with atwood1956 about the production; this blends together
beautifully and the tone on the harp against the guitars sounds wonderful. It's
a sort of jolly version of Neil Young's "Vampire Blues"...

Love this tune. Really fun words! Of course, all the
instrumentation is great! Smooth, brother!

Great singing!
Thanks Alley! It was fun to write but hard to record. But I have always enjoyed
the writing, playing and singing more than the recording. By the way if you
take a look at my icon you will see we have a lot in common. I think Dino is
one of my relatives.

Great jam
I'm workin' on a car song, too, so I really appreciate your
take on the Great American Crutch. You gracefully sing in
rising and falling semi-tones, like an autonomic motor
response. Love that harp. Guitar is crisp and refreshing.

Great jam
Yes it was a gas! A little oily when working on the engine though! Can't wait
to hear your song. Let me know if you want a guitar or harp.

Let's Hear it for Road Rage
I disagree on saying things you don't really mean in road
rage. I definitely mean 'em! For example, you GD monkey
MFer...and that's just when some dork cuts me off.
Anyway, funny lyrics a good backup jams. Enjoyed it.

Thanks for sharing
This is tune that NEEDs to be sung.
I think the words in this tune is terrific. Your voice adds
alot as well. Instrumentation was lots of fun.
Thats true bronco, that could be worrisome if someone
hears you. But it is sure tough sometimes with that traffic
especially over here near Frisco.

Nice ending too.

That was a mean harp
I loved the harmonica! Some more elaborate precussion might have been nicer and I felt the ending didn't really fit IMHO. But all in all that was a great song.

That was a mean harp
Thanks for the kind remarks. I'm still having trouble finding drum loops that
go with my kind of stuff but that maybe changing as I bought some new
software that should arrive next week. And yes the ending lyrically was kind
of hokey. But hey songs are hard to write! They say inspiration is 90 percent
perspiration but that can't be true in my case because they either come quick
and easy or they don't come at all.

That was a mean harp
That's not what I meant actally=p The lyrics I thought were fine, but what I meant was the slowing down and holding out the last word/note the way you did which is not very typical in blues although I have heard it from time to time. More common I think is to just sing straight till the last word and THEN ritard. I guess its a matter of taste but I personally felt it didn't really fit the song that well. But still, that was a great piece.
