Hello!

This is the third version; rschletty modified his vocals. It works. Hope you think so, too...

Lyrics
Only Everything

You've been askin' what I want.
Well, I'll tell you this:
Word from your lips,
piece of your heart,
my turn for the dance,
a romance that will last
from now until the end of time.

Only everything! That's what I want!
Only everything! That's what I need!
Only everything! That's what I want!
Only everything! That's what I need!

I'll open up doors, I'll do the chores.
I'll walk the mile, I'll make you smile.
Do the heavy lifting, stop all my drifting.
All I ask in return is this:

Touch from your lips,
piece of your heart,
my turn to dance,
a true romance.
No way to turn back the tide of love
I feel rushing in upon us now.

Only everything! That's what I want!
Only everything! That's what I need!

In the shadow of the night,
in the bright, right morn,
I want your every kiss,
your longing gaze.
Tell me that there'll be no disagreeing
when I start to wrap myself around your being.

Only everything!
That's what I want! That's what I need.
Only everything!
That's what I want! That's what I need.

Great song!
Rich, you have a very good voice..as always.. very clear enunciation and
full of feelings. Lyrics are very well-thought and introspective.
The instruments by mint01 and all other elements fall very cleanly into
place. Enjoyed it thoroughly!

Wow!
Great music and fabulous vox (anyone else here just a dash of Roy
Orbison here?) Way to go you two. Positively lovely.

Be well!

Very cool piece. Beautiful, this is the music looking for collaborators isnt it? I was tempted but thought, nah. The lyrics are great. You need to breath more. Long deep ones. The delivery is a bit too frantic for the wonderful text you've written. If you just gave it a bit more rehersal I think the tonal colors would start to blend more. Thanks for posting.

I sent you an e-mail. I can't seem to satisfy everyone. I've tried three vox
stylings for this song. Perhaps you'll like this one I did yesterday:

BTW, I tend to agree with you on your assessment. That is why I did a
smoother 4th version of my lead vocal. Please let me know if you like it.

Yes version four is much better.

I'm not talking about stylistic choices, those are what they are. Im talking about relaxing into the groove. That only comes from practice and in taking time to record this over and over, you are, like it or not, getting better and more comfortablle. You will know when you are there because suddenly the song itself will feel slower and you will feel like you have an endless amout of time between phrases.

Neil Porter (Jiguma) and I were discussing this the other day. Once upon a time people performed a song a zillion times before they recorded it. Every breath was pefected and all of the tonal colors had been explored. This makes it much easier to access the feelings of the moment.

Here is a tip about punching in that I discovered and have found very useful. Once you have a track where you have got most of it, except for a spot here and there, make a cut in the middle of where you want to punch in. Then peel back the recorded section a measure or more beyond where you want to rerecord. Then set the loop for this entire section. that will give you plenty of time to feel the groove before you have to re-sing the phrase. When you have got it just right. then you can roll back the good parts before and after.

nice work, dump this one and go for version 4 and if you feel like it 5 and 6.

Rene: Check out version 5:

This builds on what I learned from the previous mixes...and from good
suggestions by you, Katchoolik, Kennedy and others. Thanks for giving my
vocal styling some attention. I appreciate your insightful remarks. Sometimes
it takes several days to get comfortable singing a song, esp. if it is a new
creation.

With Rene Calvo's coaching, I replaced the first verse with a softer vox
approach I had recorded on Monday:

If I counted all the vocal "takes" I did on this song, it would probably number
at least 50. My Logic Express project is clutted with muted vox tracks. I had
done a lot of splicing and nudging on versions 1 through 4, but the lead
vox track on version 5 turned out to be a "one pass" recording... Look, Ma, no
splices! You are absolutely right about repetition being the mother of
perfection.

cool singin
and the orchestration really sound cool!

Wish there was more of this type of sounds on radio. Almost a retro feel
of the 60s 70 etc.

Almost sad that, you are doing this for fun and record companies can get
hits like this and make the big bucks. With out too much difference I
might add.

Real nice, love this type of style.
