You Are

See the light that streams from the darkness, from a soul who is weeping.
Hear their silent lips, the shuffle of tired feet.
Bring your gifts to the doorstep of a heart in a sling.
Bring your juice pressed from fruit both sour and sweet.

You are the poet, you are the clown, you are the artist able to fashion a new smile on someone draggled by despair.
Take the lead, plant the seed of hope with compassion. Help a shattered spirit find repair.

Rain, tears and fears, the falling and the rising: necessary grayness for the whetting of new growth.
Life and death in circles ever flowing.
Inspiration, expiration -- not one but both.

Good sound
Very good clarity on the vocals. Good mix also, the intro is a burst of
music, I had my speakers up and it startled me! Good guitar intrance
after the vocals. It sounds good. Good job.

Nice melody with the vocal
The nice instrumental composition lends itself to build the melody of the voice.

Good fit for Richard's vox and prose. I really liked the harmony that came in before the break, a little more of it a bit earlier would work well to build the total voice portion, but as it is it works well because harmony is brought in again after the break.

Thanks for posting! I enjoyed this very much.

Excellent tune
The music has a nice Blue Rodeo feel to it that I really liked. I think it
would play well live. Actually, I think it would play better live because
this particular version is a bit slick for my tastes and given the song's
mood and message, it could benefit from a rawer treatment. But that's
not a criticism, just a personal preference.

Lyrically, there is some incredible imagry going on and the metaphors
are working big time. For that reason, I submit that it's only one or two
rewrites away from jumping to a 10 from a 9.

Overall, a damn fine tune that has the potential to be even more.

Excellent tune

Just noticed this is listed as a Pop tune. And within that genre, it's heads &
tails above most.

Excellent tune
Thanks, Craig. I want to say thanks to Dadai (Jack Miller) and Warren Smith
(Warren Smith) for helping me tweak the lyrics. Sorry, Warren, about dropping
"hear the hum of 10 billion pairs of wings". Started to sound too corny after a
while, despite your very real aural encounter with a horde of flying insects in

Nice Mix
I really enoyed the music. A very REM quality to it. I'll stop there. Thanks!

A new flavour ....
this takes my ears in a whole new direction RS (from what I have heard of your style on other songs) .. I like it ! Very nicely done ! Very uplifting arrangement and I sort of felt a soaring of spirit while listening to it .... (is that "inspirational" ???) .... as usual ... I can't comment on the technicalities of it because I have no idea what I am talking about there .... but nice tune ... good lyrics ... great singing (as usual) .... uplifting musical bed ... nice collab !

Lovely song...
positive and uplifting message. Richards vox sung with conviction.
Deserves a wide hearing. The way the lead breaks in midway is
wonderful. A new one for my list of faves!

Be well!
