3 o'clock in the morning
in the kitchen making coffee
waiting for the phone to ring/for your key to turn in the lock
i called up your sister/to ask her had she seen you
she said did I know the time/and I'm not my sister's keeper

Why you gotta be the kind of girl
that's cutting those eyes/the minute she arrives
why you gotta be the kind of girl
that says that she's tired/and he offered you a ride so...
why you gotta be the kind of girl
that walks to his truck with your shoes in your hand
why do I gotta be the guy sitting at the bar / knowing where you are?

I'd call up your mother
if I could stand to talk to her
instead i'll light a cigarette / and think of ways to say goodbye
i'll fall asleep watching Sports Zone / I won't hear you come home
when I wake up you'll be asleep by my side

All those Italian girls / in their brother's hot cars in high school
I should have taken up with one of them instead of you

I love
the lyrics of this tune. The bridge is especially awesome, you must have seen your share of Dago T's and Trans Am's in your day, funny stuff.

Love this
.. its a genre I've experimented with. Your vocal has a brilliantly off kilter feel that sits beautifully against the music. Love the guitars, really nice textures.

tempie, Your imagery is very good. I especially liked the line "walks to his truck with your shoes in your hand", and thought "I'd call up your mother if I could Stand her" was both humous and telling. You bridge is a hoot. The minor mode of the sound of this works even if it's not what is expected. This is my second listen and I think it would be worth more listens. Good work. Alan

hey alan thanks dude. people either like or hate this one. it's one of my favorites but i just can't seem to sing a transition to the chorus that works - the minor vox seem to be too much for most people. Anyway I appreciate the stop by - maybe it's time to revisit this and try to get it right.

Made me laugh
when I saw you got a 6.33 rating on this. I'd almost forgotten about the rating. 6.33 is really low, especially when I joined and used to rate.

Love the lyrics as usual

off kilter/key
yeah i love this song but it's off/out of key and so i don't blame anyone for the 6 rating lol. some day i'm going to revisit it. i just have to figure out how to sing it...
