I am not sure if
anybody does this style better on piano than you John.
The sound is stellar, love the bass thump. Piano is such great dinner jazz! A type of music I find quite relaxing and good time feeling for sure. To me this is one of the good feeling type genre's that could really continue forever and it's great musicians like you that really are carrying it on their backs to eternal glory!

Way to Go!

Very nice
that Ivory piano sounds absolutely fantastic.

Better version
Everyone, thanks for your encouragement. Sounds to me now like the bass is too strong. So I have remixed it and posted it again, here:

You're back...
...in the night club, John. You are definitely the master in this style. It is always fun to listen to and filled with your superb piano technique. Your CDs should be flying off the shelves for jazz piano enthusiasts! ... Yes. The bass is just "a tad" too strong, but not overpowering... Let the last note ring about 3 secs. more... I totally enjoyed this number.
Peace.

Hi John..
I love your playing, but I came to check out the differences b/t the two versions and I like this one better. I gotta hear those fingers slapping that bass; your playing is right out front and clear as a bell, no bass is gonna hurt that. But the GB bass gives this an "in the same room" kind of feel to the piece. Hope you had a great Holiday. Love this.

Good point, Joe
Yes, that's a good point, Joe. The bass in my second version is quieter than many bass parts in big-name commercial jazz recordings, but then they have 'real' bass players, and my fear is that the louder the GB bass is, the more apparent it becomes that it's not the real thing. So you pays your nickel and you takes your choice. More bass, more fake. Less bass, worse balance. Ah, well. It almost makes a person want to collaborate. Hmm . . .

What a wonderful job putting the "trio together. Your playing is tasty, tasteFUL, and you make great soloing choices. Well mixed, very balanced and tight! A wonderful listen!

Lovely lines, beautiful sound from the piano and the bass walks through it all so comfortably. Much enjoyed.
