A tribute to the old west and how a cowboy must have felt at the end of the day, pardner.

Never was a horse that couldn't be rode
At least that's what I grew up told
Now I got bucked, I can't sit down yet
Feels like I was rode hard, and put away wet.

My mouth's filled with non-Bible words
Cause I drank downstream from my herd.
My stomach aches, I'm covered with sweat
Like I was rode hard and put away wet.

Texas! The Grand Ol' Opry! Rodeos! Baked Beans! Coyotes! Boots! Stagecoaches! Varmints! Miss Patsy Cline! Wanted Posters! and Chuck Wagons!

Boots, chaps and cowboy hats and nothin' else matters
I eat my dinner from a rusty tin platter
At the end of the day ride into the sunset
Even if I was rode hard and put away wet.

Lookin' for a rustler wanted dead or alive
I shot him once, then another five
Get to the brothel, lie down on the bed
Where I'll be rode hard and put away wet.

Sarsaparilla! Brandin'! Rustlers! Womenfolk! Lil' doggies! Miss Barbara Mandrell! The Pony Express! Quick Draw! Johnnycakes! and Hangin' Trees!

I don't
know what it is about Canada that produces such good songwriters.
(maybe the long winters?) I listened to both of your tunes, they're both very cleverly written. This one appealed to me because my Dad would often use the title phrase... and the pony express trail runs through my neighborhood and I live down the road from hangtown. Entertaining stuff.
