The Warrior's Call

Description
I started writing this with the desire to use some ethnic instruments. It turned into something more epic than I imagined. I didn't imagine anything in particular when making it, but after the fact, I kind of see reluctant warriors heading off to battle. I had difficulty mixing this, mainly because I still don't know what I'm doing in that regard, but I think this sounds pretty good. I just had a lot of fun writing this, and I hope you enjoy listening.

I would love to hear any constructive feedback! Thanks!

For anyone curious, the lower flute like instrument used is the Duduk, and the higher pitched 'cry' like instrument is the Zourna.

Re: Feter
Thanks Feter! I didn't realize that the Zourna was used for fast dancing songs. I tried my best to find info on it, but I couldn't really find much in english, so that's good to know! I'm looking forward to doing more pieces using instruments in a non-traditional fashion.

Re: caymanjazz
My hope is someday you will be hearing my music in a theatre. I'm lucky to be using such great sounds, as they really inspire me. I'm glad you thought the mix was good, and professional. Thanks!

Definite Zimmer vibe
I'm getting a real Zimmer/Howard Batman vibe at the 1:12 mark - and what's even better is that you achieve it without sounding like an absolute ripoff.

Very vivid composition here and yes, this is really epic :)

Re: Einaurus
I figured there might be a Zimmer vibe there. :) I really like his work, so I take that as a real compliment. I Thanks for listening!

Call of the duduk
It's such a plaintive instrument, great for movie scores. The zourna sound is cool, but much more processed. A real zourna is more obnoxious :-)

Nice piece of scoring. Very picturesque.

Re: VicDiesel
I was looking for a certain sound and the Duduk really hit the mark. The Zourna too (since I couldn't get someone's voice), but you're right, it usually sounds more obnoxious. I added tons of reverb to the samples (it's practically all reverb), to give it a lot of space. I'm glad you found it picturesque! Thanks!

Warrior!
I am absolutely blown away by this piece! It's filled with passion and intense heroic feeling.

The only thing is it could use more dramatic ending but that is my personal opinion.

Excellent work!

Re: edpdx
You're right about the end. I did have an internal debate about that. :) But I'm glad you found the rest of it full of passion. Such a great compliment; I'm glad you liked it.

Epic for sure
I love the calm entry of the Duduk against the restrained beats - you just know something's going to happen here, there's a holding back. And something does happen - nice development of action and energy after 1:12. The horns make it clear that there is no messing around or playing small, which ties nicely into the power of your warriors. The ending is clever - the army is gone and only the wind can be heard as it moves the chimes.

Great cinematic piece! Well constructed.

Wonderful
This is amazing. Epic is certainly the word to describe it. It's plaintive yet exciting, and captures the soul of an excellent movie begging to be made. Perhaps I'll write a movie just so I can use it, lols ;)
Five stars. It's perfect.

Re: BourneGirl
Let me know if you write that movie! I'd want to see it! :) It's interesting writing for visuals that don't exist, but with this I definitely did do that, and I'm very glad you found that it captured that cinematic nature.

Thank you! You won't be hearing more with this piece, but I'm working on a piece right now that will blow your socks off! :D It also has an ethnic flair, and well, I'm really liking it so far. Can't wait to share it.
