Lyrics
Eveyone's talking but he doesn't understand - their mouths are moving but their words have no meaning - and all these lights and sounds amount to nothing - and he wraps himself in his comfortable ignorance - this is a peace he's never known but it's a peace he's gonna have to let go - he tells himself that one day he's gonna make a change - but if he does he knows it's never gonna be the same - because this is a peace he's never known - but it's something he'll someday lose - and if this is a place he wants to call home - it's a peace he'll have to find somewhere else.
no salesmen, no pamphlets, no preachers, no adverts, no surverys and no last chance offers. and no-one else's hands in his goddam pockets.

Laid Back
Some fabulous guitar playing.
I like the raw sound of your recording.
It's like I'm in the front row listening to you and the band.

thanks...
...for having a listen. I've tried to keep things simpler lately, resulting in a rawer sound. I have a tendency to add and add and add parts but on these last few tunes I've experimented with subtracting, laying everything down and then pulling unnecessary stuff back or out completely. however, I just couldn't part with the guitars at the end :)

brilliant
really great song, fantastic vocals and melody,
guitar part is neat too.
I'm fond of the double tracked vocal sound. guitar extravaganza at the end a nice treat for guitar buffs.

double tracked vocals
I've determined that I just don't have the strong, commanding voice to carry a melody on its own. As such, I figure that my tracks sound better and more lush when double, quadrupled, and then harmonised. also, it's more fun recording.
speaking of fun, the sleazy guitars at the end were recorded around 3am in a delirious, sleepy-drunk haze. Somehow I did get up the next morning and went to work with a smile on my face.

Cool song
I listened to this song several times.

The picking on the guitar is very cool.
Interesting choice of percussion and very fitting.
I like your singing.

Good stuff. Thanks for posting.

it's one thing to get someone to listen to a song....
...but it's quite another to have them listen to a song several times. thanks, I am glad you dug the tune.

kinda a jazzy flamenco
kinda thing. Spicy and mellow-warm-cool. I like the more restrained, less layered approach. Takes guts to pare things down to the core. It's so easy to get sucked into the crazy over-dub vortex of self. Also like the fact that you dialed back the falsetto a little on this one, I think your voice is just fine, and your guitar mastery just shines. Well done.

thanks, Philip
always a kind word or two, your coming over for a listen is always appreciated. Even now listening to the track I feel the urge to add more. well, I'll just have have to satisfy myself with remixing it - on reflection I notice the song is very muddy and the bass is was too high. I just get so eager to post that I rush things. Anyway, looking forward to a new track from you and sonnyjim.... Echolalia is a great track.

Interesting Rythem
Like the guitar, duel vocals, simple percussion. Might be interesting to change the vocal style from falcetto on the break around 2.30 just to provide a bit more contrast. Good song. Cheers Mark

Great acoustic playing
Really, that's excellent stuff on that acoustic guitar. Nice vocals too.

But where are the japanese idioms?

The idioms....
are only in the title of the songs. I don't speak enough Japanese to sing in it or write a whole song in it. While I have been (failing to) learn the language I have come across these interesting phrases which have turned out to be very fruitful starting points for songs. Usually I struggle to put a whole song together but using these have really set a tone and theme, making the words really flow.

Glad you liked the tune, though - I've been working on my acoustic playing. It's really a different beast to the electric, isn't it?
