Song Of Yesterdays

Get Flash to see this player.

I wrote this song a while ago, but news of Steve Jobs' passing away has prompted me to finally post it.
It's a simple rock ballad with a feeling of regret and sadness, and with a bit of classic rock vibe. My brother once said this one is 'full of teenage sensibility'. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

It's also a tribute to Black Country Communion's song of the similar title.

Song was made on iPad 2 GB, 100%.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

Rock Organ
Like my last song, this song started from a simple organ riff. Considering Glenn Hughes is in the Black Country Communion, that Deep Purple comment is really flattering. Thanks for the comment and the listen.

An iPad, eh?
That's one of those scribbly things that Steve didn't want to do in the 90's, isn't it? I may have to get one if you can do stuff like this on it! Seriously, this is a remarkable sound from such a small source. Picks right up at 1.32. Good stuff. Reminds me of Focus for some reason.

(wannabe) iPad Guitar Hero
Well, with my limited experience with iPad smart guitars, they sound more authentic than virtual guitar instrument played with midi keyboard. Smart guitars have decent string simulation for 'realistic' string bending or hammering, things that can't be done with midi keyboard. Also, as a touch and slide keyboard, it has huge potential. Anyway, thanks for the listen and the kind comment!

This sounds good for strict iPad. The instruments don't sound fake at all. I thought the key's were pretty well played for not having any tactile response to let you know where you are on the keyboard. A legit song. I shouldn't be surprised though, software is great nowadays.

messing around with iPad
A bit late here. Playing keys on iPad is not as difficult as you might think, and even professionals are beginning to uncover its potential as you can see here. http://youtu.be/42BjJ7jLgK8 Software instruments will never truly replace real ones, but they sure are welcome alternative for casual players like me. Anyway, thanks for the listen and the comment.

is very cool! I know nothing about producing music on an Ipad, but as far as I'm concerned it's all about the end product, and I like this.

The ambling intro breaks very nicely into the heavier middle section, and the guitar and organ sound good.

It reminds me a bit of Yo La Tengo. A great band, that I could quite easily describe as "full of teenage sensibility"!

iPad garageband
is a quick fix for casual songwriters like me. I wanted to get serious and bought logic studio, but yet to finish the 2nd chapter of the introductory manual, haha. Well, maybe someday. Thanks for the listen and the kind comment. I should check out them Yo La Tengo soon.

Did a brief stint in a hobby band back in the 90s, and still do some occassional jam sessions with my old buddies. But I don't consider myself a musician or an artist. 'Hobbyist' might be the best word to describe me in macjams. Still, I try to m... [see more]
