Round Midnight

Description
Deluxe phantasmagorical version of the Thelonious Monk composition built around a solo guitar rendition I came up with many years ago. The intro and outro used by Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie are used in this version as well as a Pink Floyd -esque opening and some modern electronic twists. Only loop use is on some of the drum parts and sound effects.
Some strange things sometimes happen at the transition from one day or year to the next, especially if you have had a few strong cocktails.

First!
I'm seriously impressed by this! Love the way you set the scene with the opening, but love even more the guitar playing. I've always wanted a 335 and this track reminds me why! wonderful clean playing and you do the notes-with-chords jazz style very well! The change that comes in at 4:20 gives another direction and adds interest. The string bending towards the end is worth waiting for, too! Much enjoyed - thanks for the download!

Hey
Thanks for taking the time to listen,I was trying to combine retro stylings with experimental touches without obscuring a classic composition.

RM
just discovered this. i thought the song was going in one direction, then the unexpected jazz flow entered. during the 'clock' opening, i was sitting there going, "Miles, Dizzy? i'm just not hearin it." but i was soon to be enlightened. have to be patient sometimes. great organ ~4:30 too.
