Description
We wrote this song 2 days after the horrible tragedy which happened in Norway July 22nd. We kept the song very simple with piano and strings to make the words stand out more.

Lyrics
You Can Lean On Me
Words & Music: Heidi Henriksen, Michael Henriksen

64 BMP

C#m A
You never want to hear them say
B Abm
That someone close was lost today
C#m A B
So many lives will never be the same

C#m A
Still we lose from time to time
B Abm
And we will fall but we will climb
C#m A
So many lives you’re thinking of

B
When words are not enough

E C#m
You can lean on me, when it’s hard to see
A B
How the day will live again
E
Will it ever mend?
C#m
When we lose a friend
A B
Though we try, we don’t understand
A B
The world’s saying why?
E B/Eb C#m
And we’re praying for those in the sky
A B
Go set them free
E C#m
You can lean on me
A B
You can lean on me
E
You can lean on me

Why does it take so many days
To make our world a better place
We believe that there must be a way

We won’t give up without a fight
Let’s take the black and paint it white
So many lives you’re thinking of

When words are not enough

You can lean on me, when it’s hard to see
How the day will live again
Will it ever mend?
When we lose a friend
Though we try, we don’t understand
The world’s saying why?
And we’re praying for those in the sky
Go set them free
You can lean on me
You can lean on me
You can lean on me

F#m B Ab C#m
Pray for the lost, pray for the families

F#m B Ab/c C#m
Although it’s torn, our lives will go on

A B
And you can lean on me

You can lean on me, when it’s hard to see
How the day will live again
I know how you feel
But the scars will heal
Though we try, we don’t understand

You can lean on me, when it’s hard to see
How the day will live again
Will it ever mend?
When we lose a friend
Though we try, we don’t understand
The world’s saying why?
And we’re praying for those in the sky
Go set them free
You can lean on me
You can lean on me
You can lean on me

Any friend of Yves is a friend of mine and as I trust his taste in music explicitly, I somehow knew you two would be superb. You both are and I'm greatly happy you've come here to share your work. Applause for a terrific job here and looking forward to more! Michael

Inspiring
Your inspiring, lyrical response to that terrible event is testament to the human spirit. Some lovely harmonies from the bridge onwards. The piano works its magic. Take care, both of you. Regards, Peter.

Captivating
There is a real captivating vibe to this song. Great job resisting the temptation to layer this song with a lot of instrumentation, the simple style is absolutely perfect. Musicianship is great, vocals remind of a cross between Evanescence and Roxette, very awesome!. Production wise, I wouldn't change a thing, Well done guys, consider me a fan, God Bless

Thanks Phillip
This was truly a horrific event.. and when writing this one we wanted it to be a song of hope rather than a too sad song, even though all of this is so sad of course. We've had many many sweet words from the norwegian people, that means so much! Thanks for listening Phillip and for your kind words. Love Heidi
