Bare Wire

Get Flash to see this player.

Another slice of indie-pop-rock. I was having a conversation about stuff your parents say to you and remembered something my dad said in a moment when he had his guard down. "your heart is like bare wires - someone touches it and boom".
This is a typically Paddy piece musically. The only guitar featuring on this is my Epiphone Dot Studio, tuned to open E. The lyrics were written, literally, on a matchbox whilst I was recording, so I apologise for their lameness.
The end segment is rough, I haven't had time to tidy up the staccato but will do some sometime (probably when I mend that stove hood my wife has been going on about for years!).
Thanks for listening.

A lighter side of Paddy. But it still rocks. The opening had me thinking the Cars. As you got deeper in Weezer came to mind. Both very good things. Your production and mixes just keep getting better.

Paddy if you don't get that hood mended soon, you might end up wearing the Epiphone LOL. The song is great and i like your arrangement and the vocals around 2-30 giving it a very live feel.... I like how you got your inspiration too. Surprising how we recall certain little things in life ....and you put it to good use here.... enjoyed, regards M

man this is so tuneful. the phrasing and progression reminds me a bit of townshend's 'let my love open the door' a great tune, but just a bit, just enough to evoke it which is how i like my references. you're one of the few people who can effectively use long, drawn out phrasing, lot's of full measure notes and I don't know how you do it, because when I try it I sound like a ten year old, but you make it work, nothing awkward about it. You and courtney love.

I like your hook, and the rest of the lyric develops it well. I agree with Andrew on the Cars reference.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's in the south of the UK in an Irish family. I had always loved music but was never given an opportunity to explore making it for myself. About 10 years ago I bought an acoustic guitar and began strumming in earnest. To d... [see more]
