Freedoms' Child (Slight Return)

Description
Dedicated to the fathers of Celtic-Rock---the legendary HORSLIPS!

In this instrumental I briefly revisit the lead riff from FREEDOMS' CHILD. (Hence the title.)

The bodhran and the Scottish snare and bass drums are loops.

The accordion (left channel) is midi.

The guitar tracks are me zooming along on my Dot Studio Epiphone semi hollow-body guitar.

Bass is live as well.

Playing the guitar and bass was a bit of a struggle as my gimpy right hand is still not fully healed from the accident a couple of weeks back. (See the notes to ARIADNE'S THREAD.) I did the best I could though, and I think it came out OK.

At any rate, it was a lot of fun doing this one!

Be well all!

You’ve caought the vibe very well.

Freedoms' Child
That right hand is doing a good job on this one - plenty of fire and energy in the performance. Big sound. Good one!

Fact is...
that since recording this my right hand has been inflamed all the way up to my elbow and hurts like hell. Think I'm gonna have to cool it for awhile. Still glad i got this done though!

Thanks for listening and commenting Phil!

Memories!
Hey Fred... they reformed and have put out three more CDs. Nothing really new though, mainly rehashing their older stuff. I've always been fond of them. The percussion is loops, of course...

Thanks for the nice comment!

Be well!

Freedoms' Child
Rolls along very nicely, Mike. You did a fine job despite the impaired hand. Nothing like a bodhran for creating a stirring beat. Thanks.

Wow... Horselips...
almost forgot about them. Have listened to and had albums from Renaissance (Love her voice and the Ric bass), Steleye Span (King Henry is my fav) on an at least annual basis. I was fortunate to have an FM station that played those three in the 70's, as well as the one band that did get some commercial success in the Genre - Jethro Tull (and later, no commercial success, but I like listening to Blackmore's Night - again, love her voice).

Have been a great fan of Celtic Rock - especially ancient tunes played on electric instruments. Enjoyed this song immensely! Thank You.
