Description
Alrighty then! Time for another new rocker.

Stumbled on the main riff by accident whilst noodling aimlessly, and then built the rest of the tune around it.

Calchas: Vocals, guitars, and bass.

The midi drum track was constructed of files from groovemonkee.com's ROCK ESSENTIALS pack.

Thanks in advance for listening and commenting.

Lyrics
MIXED SIGNALS

1st Refrain:
Mixed signals,
...compromise my sight!
Mixed signals!

Mixed signals,
...can't tell the dark from the light!
Mixed signals!

I
Talkin' to me about God's love;
'bout the power of the holy Dove.
Asked a question when they gave me the floor.
They just slammed the door!

II
I've been a seeker all my life.
Don't want no shrink-wrapped answers.
It's the questioning sheds most of the light,
but their behavior cut me like a knife...

Bridge:
Realigning my receiver.
Turn the volume way up high.
I'm seeking a clearer signal,
to cut through this cacophany!

2nd Refrain:
Mixed signals,
...from the Left and the Right!
Mixed signals!

Mixed signals,
...keep me up at night!
Mixed signals!

III
My friends on either side of the rift;
---they like to know what I'm thinking.
They always end up somewhat scandalized,
when I refuse their polarization.

IV
I believe in “live and let live.”
FREEDOM IS THE LIGHT!
No substitute for the Golden Rule.
No Big Brother oversight!
Hey!

Rock solid
Starts as a rocker and morphs into psychedelia. I like the guitar in particular. More cowbell!

Cowbell!
Yeah... I used cowbell on my last tune as well. Been craving it of late for some reason. Nostalgia perhaps?

About this tune...I LIKE it but have not yet learned to LOVE it. Was going to have two verses before the psychedelic mid-section, but was afraid it would become too long. Also doesn't seem as coherent composition-wise as my other stuff.

But perhaps I'm nit-picking here. Anyway, the main riff is real fun to play!

Hey Henry, thanks for listening and commenting. I really appreciate it.

Twisted Riffage
Recalls "The Hunter" a bit. The background vocals brought a smile. There are some nice chords on this during the verses.
Nice middle section with leslie guitar, what a treat!
Bravo!

Thanks Daug!
Always enjoy the sound of your barking. Glad this one didn't make you growl!

Nice bottom end in the start .... I wish you would have had the bottom end continue. Otherwise I love the creative approach to the different pieces ... back in the days of Genisis but with a blues groove to the main guitar lick. Awesome

Hey! Thanks guys...
Perhaps I need to bring the bass lines after the opening up a bit on the master. (BTW, I love early Genesis!)

Be well friends!

Love the opening riffage. You are tackling the big issues here, Mike. The eclectic arrangement supports your quest wonderfully. Impressive. Thanks.

Thank you Peter...
"quest"? Indeed! For a Process Christian Anarchist and Platophile like me it is never-ending... But what the hell! It gives me something beyond the anodyne to write about! Ha ha...

Be well friend!

This moves around a lot
Prog rock for today.

I like the way you put it all together and it's a great riff!
