A colleague of mine likes listing to vintage music, and he came upon a disco song that he really liked, and he wondered if I could compose something similar. This is the song that I conjured up for him. No, that's not Lou Rawls singing -- it's a voice I fabricated using Pitch Shifter in Logic Pro.

Cultural Appropriation
Great midi skills on display here.
Blackxpoitation! Or something. You got the idea, but no nasty. Needs the nasty... Turn up Lou too. If he is on the record he is on lead. He even got in front on the sides with Sam Cooke.

Never been a fan of disco...
but this has a driving funk to it that I find appealing.

Very well put together Don.

More background
I was not into Disco during the 70's. The inspiration for this song came from seeing a video a colleague sent to me of CJ and Company singing Devil's Gun. He said he really liked CJ's style, so I tried to incorporate the general style used in that song rather than try to mimic the music line. Devil's Gun has a long build-up before the singing starts. I tried that at first, but then felt a shorter build-up worked better for my purpose for creating the song. Thanks all for listening and your comments.

Thank you! This was a new style for me, and it came together much better than I thought I'd be able to do when I set out to address my friend's disco challenge.
