Hello KC
I am glad you enjoyed the ride. I will do reasonable requests, but I am not re-making "Afternoon Delight" for Mike, I try to keep the faithful listeners satisfied.

Ramona...
What a sultry gal... her bass is the standout among her outstanding cast of characters. Very fine piece of... music, Mr. Daug.

Hello Jack
Thank you for the comment old friend. Blues is the common denominator here at MJs still... it has been so for a long time, there is almost no Americana or country left. A smoke for every solo... Just how it goes...

Subtle dissonances at first
like the band are all slightly off their heads. Then the guitarist decides no more noodling and starts to give it some ...

Fun listen.

Dissonance or colors?
Not off day heads man! No man this is calculation, they using color or active tones to provide ya happenings. Best way to see this is to watch a piano player manipulate colors in real time with commentary, that is probably on the net somewhere.
So what is dat about? Takes a few minutes to learn on your own? Take the Daug House Color Tone course, here is lesson one for free.
Ahhh... (at the keyboard) Put an F blues progression in your left hand. In the right hand play an Fmaj7 scale figure against the chords one at a time slowly. Pitches act on chords in specific ways, it's settled science, some pitches just blend in with the chord and are inactive, and, some create happenings. Discover those relationships. Once ya got dos happenings cold, go full chromatic scale against the progression. Viola, ya got color on your pallet. A complimentary Active Pitch Theory experience just for you- $19.95 for lesson two.

Man, you are another level to me!
I like the concept but I have no keyboard skills beyond 1 finger melodies and block chords. I'm not sure it'll work on guitar but I might give it a go.

Thanks!

Been here since the place opened. I hope you enjoy yourself here at MJ. In fall 2009, I erased the 60+ tunes I had posted since day one. MJ had changed, becoming hateful and repressive, and I needed to respond appropriately. What happe... [see more]
